Sinossi
Didier, autista di taxi e rifugiato a Johannesburg, è un uomo che evita il rischio e i conflitti, segnato dal proprio passato. Nel giorno dell’anniversario del massacro del Kivu desidera solo pace e silenzio. Ma quando Sandile, un bambino sordo di sette anni e figlio del sindaco, si rifugia nella sua auto durante un tentativo di rapimento, la sua giornata cambia bruscamente. In un attimo, Didier si ritrova coinvolto in qualcosa di molto più grande di lui.
Didier, a taxi driver and refugee in Johannesburg, is a man who avoids risk and conflict, marked by his past. On the anniversary of the Kivu massacre, he longs only for peace and silence. But when Sandile, a seven-year-old deaf boy and the son of the mayor, takes refuge in his car during an attempted kidnapping, his day suddenly changes. In an instant, Didier finds himself drawn into something far bigger than himself.
Il Regista
Chris Djuma è un drammaturgo, attore e regista nato in Svizzera, cresciuto in Sudafrica e di origini congolesi. Ha esordito alla regia nel 2021 con videoclip e corti, affermandosi poi con Rearview, scritto, diretto e interpretato per il programma Youth Filmmaker del National Film and Video Foundation, selezionato in diversi festival internazionali tra cui Clermont-Ferrand. Sta attualmente sviluppando il lungometraggio Rearview e un nuovo corto, Problem Solved.
Chris Djuma is a playwright, actor, and director born in Switzerland, raised in South Africa, and of Congolese heritage. He began his directing career in 2021 with music videos and short films, later gaining recognition with Rearview, which he wrote, directed, and starred in as part of the National Film and Video Foundation’s Youth Filmmaker Program. The film was selected for several international festivals, including Clermont-Ferrand. He is currently developing a feature-length version of Rearview as well as a new short film titled Problem Solved.
