Azlarabe Alaoui è un regista marocchino e ricercatore accademico, con un dottorato in discorso cinematografico audiovisivo, e insegna cinema e studi audiovisivi. È direttore del Centro di Studi e Ricerca Audiovisiva di Sijilmassa e del Festival Rabat Doc Africa, dedicato al cinema documentario africano. Ha diretto diversi film di finzione e documentari presentati e premiati in festival internazionali, tra cui Androman de sang et de charbon, Kilikis – Douar Al Boum e Africa Blanca. La sua opera esplora i temi dell’identità, della memoria e della condizione umana attraverso un approccio visivo poetico e contemplativo.
Azlarabe Alaoui is a Moroccan filmmaker and academic researcher holding a PhD in visual cinematic discourse and teaching cinema and audiovisual studies. He is the director of the Sijilmassa Center for Audiovisual Studies and Research and the director of the Rabat Doc Africa Festival dedicated to African documentary cinema. He has directed several fiction and documentary films that have been screened and awarded at international film festivals, including Androman de sang et de charbon, Kilikis – Douar Al Boum, and Africa Blanca. His work explores themes of identity, memory, and the human condition through a poetic and contemplative visual approach.
Rym Takoucht è una delle attrici cinematografiche più premiate d’Algeria. Formata presso il Higher Institute of Performing Arts (ISMAS), nel corso della sua carriera ha preso parte a importanti coproduzioni franco-algerine e italo-algerine, distinguendosi in film come Mascarades di Lyes Salem, Le Thé d’Ania, Vivantes, Les Palmiers Blessés, Parfums d’Alger e Cigare au miel. Le sue interpretazioni intense e raffinate le hanno fatto ottenere numerosi riconoscimenti internazionali, tra cui il premio come Migliore Attrice al Journées Cinématographiques de Carthage, al Montreal World Film Festival, al Festival du Film de Vernon, al Festival du Film d’Ariège e al Paris Film Festival. Ha inoltre ricevuto un premio dipartimentale al FESPACO, la più importante manifestazione dedicata al cinema africano.
Rym Takoucht is one of Algeria’s most decorated screen actresses, classically trained at the Higher Institute of Performing Arts (ISMAS) in Algiers. Her cinema work spans landmark Algerian French and Algerian-Italian co productions, including Mascarades (Lyes Salem), Le Thé d’Ania and Vivantes (Said Ould Khelifa), Les Palmiers Blessés, Parfums d’Alger, and Cigare au miel. Her performances have earned Best Actress honors at the prestigious Carthage Film Festival (Tunisia), Montreal Film Festival (Canada), Vernon, Ariège, and Paris Film Festivals (France), alongside a Departmental Prize at FESPACO Ouagadougou, Africa’s premier film showcase.
Beatriz Mbula è una creatrice audiovisiva, attrice e sceneggiatrice residente in Spagna. Il suo lavoro intreccia cinema, pensiero critico e antirazzismo, con una particolare attenzione alla costruzione e alla trasformazione degli immaginari nella finzione. Ha sviluppato progetti e percorsi formativi dedicati al linguaggio cinematografico e alla scrittura in chiave decoloniale, con un focus sul cinema afrodiscendente. Nel 2020 ha creato Asunto Casting, una web serie ispirata alle sue esperienze personali nell’industria cinematografica spagnola, che racconta le difficoltà di un’attrice nera in Spagna. Attualmente sta sviluppando il suo lungometraggio d’esordio, AFRO, con Turanga Films, e la serie comedy Las Chicas Son, vincitrice del premio Cambio de Plano. Attraverso la finzione, l’umorismo e la satira, il suo lavoro esplora temi legati all’identità, alla rappresentazione e alle dinamiche di potere.
Beatriz Mbula is an audiovisual creator, actress, and screenwriter based in Spain. Her work intertwines cinema, critical thinking, and anti-racism, with a particular focus on the construction and transformation of imaginaries through fiction. She has developed projects and educational programs dedicated to cinematic language and decolonial writing, with a focus on Afro-descendant cinema. In 2020, she created Asunto Casting, a web series inspired by her personal experiences in the Spanish film industry, portraying the challenges faced by a Black actress in Spain. She is currently developing her debut feature film, AFRO, with Turanga Films, as well as the comedy series Las Chicas Son, winner of the Cambio de Plano award. Through fiction, humor, and satire, her work explores themes of identity, representation, and power dynamics.
