Sinossi: Samba attraversa il Mali con l’obiettivo di convincere le persone ad abbracciare il socialismo. In un villaggio incontra Lara, una ragazza ch’è stata costretta a sposarsi con un uomo che non amava. Tra loro nasce una storia d’amore proibita ma appassionante. Samba, a Bamako, combatte duramente per la sua idea di libertà personale e collettiva.
Samba is travelling all over Mali with the aim of convincing people to embrace socialism. In a village he meets a girl called Lara who was forced to marry against her will. A beautiful love story is born between them. In Bamako, Samba fights hardly for his idea of personal freedom and for his country.
Il Regista
Robert Guédiguian è nato in Francia da madre tedesca e padre armeno. Inizia la sua attività di sceneggiatore e regista negli anni ’80 del secolo scorso e la sua vocazione è il racconto di realtà sociali soprattutto ambientate nel mondo operaio della città di Marsiglia. Un tema che attraversa tutta l’opera di Guédiguian e che caratterizza anche Twist a Bamako, è il crescente senso di disillusione nei confronti della capacità della politica di sinistra di migliorare le sorti delle classi lavoratrici.
Robert Guédiguian was born in France to a German mother and an Armenian father. He began his activity as a scriptwriter and director in the 80s of the last century and his vocation is to tell social realities especially set in the working-class world of the city of Marseille.A theme that runs through the entire oeuvre of Guédiguian, and that also characterizes Twist a Bamako, is the growing sense of disillusionment in the capacity of left-wing politics to improve the fate of the working classes.
