Patience, Patience, t’Iras au Paradis!

Negli anni Sessanta migliaia di Maghrebini partirono verso il Belgio per lavorare. Fra loro, parecchie donne hanno lasciato tutto per seguire i propri mariti in una terra sconosciuta. “Porta pazienza, che andrai in paradiso!” È il ritornello ripetuto mille volte per aiutare queste donne a sopportare la propria vita senza lamenti. 50 anni dopo, sono il desiderio di emancipazione e la curiosità a muoverle. Si riscoprono incredibilmente gioiose, capaci di un’autoironia profonda e assolutamente disinibita. Questo film le accompagna nelle loro molteplici scoperte, con la semplicità delle loro ballate, il calore della loro femminilità e del loro humour…

In the sixties, thousands of people from Maghreb left for Belgium to find a job. Among them, there were women who abandoned their lives and followed their men to an unknown land. “Patience, patience. T’iras au paradis!” (Be patient and you’ll go to heaven!”) was the refrain repeated a thousand times to help these women endure their lives without ever complaining. 50 years later, the desire for emancipation and curiosity raise their awareness. These women turn out to be incredibily joyous and capable of a totally uninhibited self-mockery. This film follows them through their many discoveries, spontaneous ballads, warm femininity and sense of humor.

Giornalista, regista e presentatrice, Hadja Lahbib è conosciuta al grande pubblico per essere uno dei volti di RTBF. Presenta infatti il telegiornale della RTBF e due trasmissioni culturali sul canale Arte-Belgique. Per molto tempo inviata speciale ai quattro angoli del globo, Hadja Lahbib si è consacrata qualche anno fa alla cultura e alla regia. Pazienza, pazienza. T’ira au paradis! è il suo terzo documentario.

Journalist, director and presenter, Hadja Lahbib is known by the general public to be one of the face of RTBF. She presents RTBF news and two cultural programs on Art-Belgique TV channel. She was a reporter in the four corners of the globe for a long time, and a few years ago she focused on culture and direction. Patience, Patience, T’ira au paradis! Is her third documentary.
