Sinossi
Our Brother è un intenso dramma familiare ambientato durante un solo giorno: quello di un matrimonio tradizionale carico di aspettative, amore e tensioni nascoste. Al centro della storia c’è Mark, il figlio autistico, la cui presenza mette in luce conflitti irrisolti, sacrifici silenziosi e fragili equilibri familiari. Quando un incidente inatteso fa emergere verità represse, la famiglia è costretta a confrontarsi con rimpianti e desideri, rischiando di mandare in frantumi ciò che il giorno avrebbe dovuto celebrare.
Our Brother is an intense family drama set over the course of a single day: a traditional wedding filled with expectation, love, and hidden tension. At the center of the story is Mark, the son on the Autism Spectrum, whose presence brings unresolved conflicts, silent sacrifices, and fragile family dynamics to the surface. When an unexpected incident reveals long-buried truths, the family is forced to confront regrets and desires, threatening to shatter everything the day was meant to celebrate.
La Regista
Shandra Apondi è una regista e produttrice che vive a Nairobi. Ha iniziato la sua carriera nel cinema come attrice, per poi dedicarsi alla regia con opere come Love or Tragedy e il cortometraggio Paaswaad, che le sono valsi riconoscimenti ai Women in Film Awards Kenya 2023 e al Mobile Film Festival Africa. Grazie a questi premi ha consolidato la propria voce autoriale realizzando Our Brother. Con la sua casa di produzione Out of My Mind Films continua oggi a raccontare storie africane con autenticità e respiro internazionale.
Shandra Apondi is a director and producer based in Nairobi. She began her career in film as an actress before moving into directing with works such as Love or Tragedy and the short film Paaswaad, which earned her recognition at the Women in Film Awards Kenya 2023 and the Mobile Film Festival Africa. Thanks to these awards, she further established her distinctive authorial voice with Our Brother. Through her production company Out of My Mind Films, she continues to tell African stories with authenticity and international resonance.
