Sinossi
Una giovane donna africana va a nuotare nelle gelide acque del mare d’Islanda e riflette sulla sua esperienza di crescere un bambino in un paese che non assomiglia per niente a casa sua. Nuotando, rivive la sua gravidanza traumatica. Essere nella natura e affrontare le sue paure la aiuta a guarire.
A young black woman goes swimming in the Icelandic sea and reflects on her experience of raising a child in a country that feels nothing like home. As she enters the freezing water, she relives her traumatic pregnancy. Being in the wild and facing her fears is helping her heal.
Il Regista
Fan Sissoko è un’artista e regista franco-maliana che vive a Reykjavik, con una formazione in design. Il suo lavoro esplora i temi della migrazione, della maternità e della neurodiversità. Ha lavorato a Londra per il Migration Museum, il Museum of London, la Science Gallery Dublin e il National Trust.
Il suo cortometraggio d’animazione On the Surface ha ricevuto una borsa di studio Art With Impact ed è stato proiettato in festival internazionali.
Fan Sissoko is a Franco-Malian artist and director living in Reykjavik, with a background in design. Her work explores the themes of migration, motherhood and neurodiversity. She worked in London for the Migration Museum, the Museum of London, the Science Gallery Dublin and the National Trust.
Her animated short film On the Surface received an Art With Impact scholarship and was screened at international festivals.
