Sheikh Taher è un imam devoto e rispettato. Acconsente a pregare sul cadavere di una donna che non conosce, ma il suo atto di pietà diventerà il pretesto per la sua espulsione, provocata dal giovane Hamid, il suo machiavellico e ambizioso assistente.

Sheikh Taher is a devout and respected imam. He agrees to pray on the dead body of a woman he does not know, but his act of piety proves to be the mistake that will precipitate the spoliation of his power by Hamid, his young Machiavellian and ambitious assistant.

La Regista

Kaouther Ben Hania è nata a Sidi Bouzid, in Tunisia. È regista e sceneggiatrice e vive a Parigi. Ha studiato cinema in Tunisia all’École des Arts et du Cinéma (EDAC) e poi a Parigi (Fémis e Sorbona). Ha diretto numerosi cortometraggi tra cui Me, My Sister and the Thing (2006) e Wooden Hand (2013). Ha realizzato anche alcuni lungometraggi tra cui Challat of Tunis, del 2013 e Beauty and the Dogs  del 2017. I suoi film e documentari sono stati selezionati da prestigiosi festival di tutto il mondo e hanno vinto numerosi premi.

Kaouther Ben Hania was born in Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia. She is a director and a scriptwriter and is based in Paris. She studied cinema in Tunisia, at the École des Arts et du Cinéma (EDAC) then in Paris (Fémis and the Sorbonne). She directed several short films including Me, My Sister and the Thing (2006) and Wooden Hand (2013). She realized some feature films including Challat of Tunis (2013) and Beauty and the Dogs (2017). Her productions was selected for many prestigious festivals (Vancouver, Dubai, Amiens …) all over the world, and they won numerous prizes.
