Le Choix d’Ali

Ali è omosessuale e ha vissuto a Parigi con Eric per due anni. Una sera riceve una telefonata dalla sorella che lo informa che la madre ha avuto un ictus. Decide di tornare a Besançon con il compagno, per incontrare e stare un po’ con la madre e poi ripartire subito. Ali teme questo ritorno: è scappato cinque anni prima perché la sua famiglia, musulmana praticante, ritiene l’omosessualità un grande peccato.

Ali is homosexual. He lived in Paris with Eric for two years. One evening he received a phone call from his sister informing him that his mother has had a stroke. He decides to return to Besançon with his partner in the hope of seeing his mother, reassuring her and reassuring himself, and then leaving immediately. Ali fears this return: he ran away years earlier because his family, a practicing Muslim, considers homosexuality a great sin.

Il Regista

Amor Hakkar è regista, sceneggiatore, attore e scrittore. Arrivato in Francia, con i genitori a soli sei mesi, è cresciuto a Besançon dove ha compiuto studi scientifici. Negli anni ’90 approfondisce la sua passione per il cinema e la scrittura, realizzando il suo primo cortometraggio e un lungometraggio. Nel 1998, per il funerale del padre, egli riscopre la sua regione natale, l’Aures, in Algeria, dove ambienterà alcuni lavori successivi.

Amor Hakkar is a director, screenwriter, actor and writer. Arriving in France when he was only six months old with his parents, he grew up in Besançon where he educated in scientific studies. In the 90s he deepened his passion for cinema and writing, making his first short film and his first feature film. In 1998, for the funeral of his father he rediscovers his native region of Aures, in Algeria, where he set some of his later works.
