Ghetto PSA

Jacob è arrivato in Italia dalla Guinea francese quando aveva 11 anni, orfano dei genitori. Oggi ne ha 27, l’hip hop è il suo mondo, la sua personale valvola di sfogo per esprimere sogni, speranze e frustrazioni, per non sentirsi più parte del “ghetto”. Vive in Barriera, alla periferia di Torino, dove di giorno, insieme ai ragazzi del suo gruppo “Ghetto PSA”, scrive canzoni e fa musica, mentre di notte lavora come educatore in un centro per richiedenti asilo. Una “doppia” vita che lo spinge a riflettere sulla sua stessa identità, quella di un giovane italiano che parla tre lingue, ma che non dimentica chi è e da dove viene.

Jacob arrived in Italy alone from French Guinea when he was 11 years old. Today he is 27, and hip hop musici s his whole world: it is his way to express dreams, hopes and frustrations, and to not feel part of the “Ghetto”any longer. He lives on the outskirts of Turin, where, by day, together with other young migrants who are part of his band “Ghetto PSA”, he writes songs and makes music. At night, he works as an educator in a centre for asylum seekers. This “double life”leads him to reflect on his own idenity, as a young Italian who speaks three languages, bus does not forget who he is and where he has come from.

La Regista
Rossella Schillaci ha ottenuto un master in antropologia visiva e regia del documentario in Inghilterra. Ha realizzato documentari sul tema delle migrazioni e delle identità culturali, partecipando e ottenendo premi in numerosi festival internazionali come l’Al Jazeera Film Festival, RAI film festival, Fespaco, Jean Rouch film festival, Film de femmes de Creteil, Torino Film Festival, Bellaria, Salina, Sguardi altrove, Bergamo Film Meeting.

Rossella Schillaci  obtained a master’s degree in Visual Anthropology and Documentary Film Direction in Egland. She has produced documentaries on migrantions and cultural identities, taking part and receiving awards at numerous International festivals such as Al Jazeera Film Festival, RAI Film Festival, Fespaco, Jean Rouch Film Festival, Film de Femmes de Creteil, Torino Film Festival , Bellario, Salina, Sguardi Altrove, Bergamo Film Meeting.
