Espoir Voyage

In Burkina Faso, l’emigrazione dei giovani verso la Costa d’Avorio è quasi un rituale di passaggio per
diventare adulti. Ma di solito, la regola è lasciare per poi tornare. “Joanny, mio fratello maggiore,
improvvisamente ha lasciato la nostra famiglia, una mattina del 1978. Dopo 18 anni di assenza senza mai aver ricevuto notizie da lui, un giorno ci dissero che Joanny era morto. Questo documentario rappresenta il tentativo di capire ciò che  spinse mio fratello e tanti altri giovani, a 14 anni, a partire da Koudougou in  Burkina Faso per arrivare in Costa d’Avorio”.

In Burkina Faso, the emigration of young people to the Ivory Coast is almost a rite of passage to adulthood. But usually, the rule is to leave and then return. “Joanny, my older brother, suddendly left our family, one morning in 1978. After 18 years of absence without having news from him, one day we were told that Joanny was dead. This documentary is an attempt to understand what drove my brother and many other young, at the age of 14, to leave Koudougou in Burkina Faso to arrive in Ivory Coast”.

La Regista

Nato nel 1974 a Koudougou, Michel K. Zongo è un regista, cameraman e sceneggiatore. Dopo aver studiato al Centro Nazionale di Cinematografia e presso la Television Nationale in Burkina Faso, prosegue la propria formazione a Annecy, in Francia. Dopo aver lavorato come cameramen e aiuto regista per numerosi registi, tra i quali Christian Lelong, scrive e dirige il suo primo documentario nel 2009 Sibi, l’âme du violon, e nello stesso anno realizza Ti-tiimou (Nos sol). Nel 2010 crea la società di produzione Diam, specializzata in film documentari, che ha coprodotto, assieme a Cinédoc Films, Espoir Voyage. 

Born in 1974 in Koudougou, Michel K. Zongo is a director, cameraman and scriptwriter. After studying at the National Center fo Cinematography and at the National Television in Burkina Faso, is continuing its training in Annecy, France. After working as a cameramen and assistant director for numerous directors, including Christian Lelong, he wrote and directed his first documentary in 2009 Sibi, l’âme du violon, and in the same year he produced Ti-tiimou (Nos sol). In 2010 created the production company Diam, specialized in documentary film, which co-produced, along with Cinédoc Films, Espoir Voyage.
