Al-Sit

In un villaggio di coltivatori di cotone in Sudan, la quindicenne Nafisa ha una cotta per Babiker, ma i suoi genitori le hanno combinato il matrimonio con Nadir, un giovane uomo d’affari sudanese che vive all’estero. La nonna di Nafisa, Al-Sit, potente matriarca del villaggio, ha i suoi piani per il futuro di Nafisa. Potrà Nafisa decidere da sola?

In a cotton-farming village in Sudan, 15-year-old Nafisa has a crush on Babiker, but her parents have arranged her marriage to Nadir, a young Sudanese businessman living abroad. Nafisa’s grandmother Al- Sit, the powerful village matriarch, has her own plans for Nafisa’s future. But can Nafisa choose for herself?

Suzannah Mirghani è una scrittrice, ricercatrice e regista indipendente, impegnata a studiare e diffondere storie del mondo arabo. Laureata in studi sui media e museali, ha pubblicato lavori creativi e accademici su diverse questioni sociali. Per le sue origini biculturali, sudanesi e russe, è molto interessata al tema dell’identità. Suzannah oltre ad essere autrice, è anche produttrice di cortometraggi.

Suzannah Mirghani is a writer, researcher, and independent filmmaker, highlighting stories from the Arab world. She is a media studies and museum studies graduate and publishes creative and scholarly work on a variety of social issues. Being of bicultural Sudanese and Russian backgrounds, she is most interested in stories that examine the complexity of identity. Suzannah in addition to being an author is also a producer of short films.
