Sinossi
Durante una battuta di pesca a cui partecipano due fratelli adolescenti, un tragico incidente provoca la morte per annegamento di uno dei due. La famiglia viene travolta dal dolore e da una crisi emotiva, soprattutto il padre, che rifiuta di accettare la perdita. Il fratello sopravvissuto si ritrova così intrappolato in una crescente frattura identitaria, nel tentativo di colmare il vuoto lasciato dal gemello scomparso e di conquistare l’affetto del padre.
During a fishing trip involving two teenage brothers, a tragic accident leads to the drowning death of one of them. The family is overwhelmed by grief and emotional turmoil, especially the father, who refuses to accept the loss. The surviving brother finds himself trapped in an increasingly deep identity fracture, as he tries to fill the void left by his deceased twin and win his father’s affection.
Il Regista
Hussein Hossam è un regista e sceneggiatore egiziano di Port Said. Dopo studi iniziali in ingegneria civile e l’esperienza della rivoluzione del 2011, si dedica al cinema, formandosi sia come autodidatta che frequentando la Prague Film School. Esordisce con il cortometraggio Barzakh, presentato e premiato in diversi festival internazionali, e realizza poi lavori come Holy Mother (2023). Il suo cinema è indipendente e personale, attento alla dimensione umana e alle trasformazioni dell’Egitto contemporaneo.
Hussein Hossam is an Egyptian filmmaker and screenwriter from Port Said. After initial studies in civil engineering and his experience of the 2011 revolution, he turned to cinema, training both as a self-taught artist and at the Prague Film School. He made his debut with the short film Barzakh, which was screened and awarded at several international film festivals, and later directed works such as Holy Mother (2023). His cinema is independent and personal, focusing on the human dimension and the transformations of contemporary Egypt.
