In the silence of a house overflowing with unspoken expectations, Aduke holds her newborn close, but the milk doesn’t come. As she struggles with the challenges of breastfeeding, the young Nigerian mother confronts the invisible fractures of her past, the tensions of the present, and the emotional legacy of her family.

Ifeyinwa Arinze is a filmmaker from Nigeria, based in New York City. Her work centers intimate portrayals of Black women and girls that are grounded in tenderness and care. Named a 2025 Berlinale Talent, her work has been supported by organizations like BAFTA, New York Foundation for the Arts, New York Women In Film and Television. Her latest fiction short film, Breastmilk, had its world premiere at the 2025 Clermont Ferrand International Short Film Festival. Ifeyinwa is developing her debut feature film, Scruples.
