The Last Shelter

La Casa dei Migranti di Gao, in Mali, è un rifugio al margine meridionale del deserto del Sahara. Accoglie coloro che sono in transito verso l’Algeria o sulla via del ritorno dopo un tentativo fallito di raggiungere l’Europa. Quando Esther e Kady, due adolescenti del Burkina Faso, arrivano nella Casa, stringono amicizia con Natacha, una donna migrante che ha perso la speranza di riavere la propria abitazione.

The House of Migrants in Gao, Mali, is a shelter on the southern edge of Sahara desert. It takes in those in transit to Algeria in the north, or on their way back after a failed attempt to reach Europe. When Esther and Kady, two teenagers from Burkina Faso, arrive, they meet Natacha, a migrant woman who has lost hope of regaining her home.

Il Regista

Laureato in economia aziendale, Ousmane Zoromé Samassékou ha continuato i suoi studi al Conservatorio di Arti e Mestieri della Comunicazione di Bamako. Ha poi ottenuto un master in produzione e creazione di documentari all’Università Gaston Berger di Saint Louis, in Senegal. Ousmane è partner di DS Production a Bamako, dove è produttore, regista, DOP e montatore. Nel 2015, ha completato il suo primo lungometraggio documentario sulle avversità che ostacolano la formazione e l’istruzione nel Mali.

A graduate in business economics, Ousmane Zoromé Samassékou continued his studies at the Conservatory of Multimedia Arts and Crafts in Bamako. He then obtained a master’s degree in documentary production and creation at the Gaston Berger University in Saint Louis, Senegal. Ousmane is a partner with DS Production in Bamako, where he is a producer, director, DOP and editor. In 2015, he completed his first feature-length documentary film on the evils that hinder training and education in Mali.
