DESCRIPTION:PRESENTAZIONE DEL LIBRO “CI RIDO SOPRA CRESCERE CON LA PELLE NERA NELL’ITALIA DI SALVINI” (Rizzoli\, 2019) del rapper Tommy Kuti. Il libro è il racconto personale di un ragazzo con la pelle nera nato in Nigeria e cresciuto nel quartiere multietnico Cinque Continenti a Castiglione delle Stiviere\, in provincia di Mantova. Tommy dà voce a quella nuova leva\, che sono i ragazzi di seconda generazione\, con i loro sogni e difficoltà di integrazione. Ragazzi che studiano e lavorano\, mangiano pasta al pomodoro e che\, come rappa Kuti\, la prima volta che hanno detto “ti amo” l’hanno fatto in italiano. Tommy\, parlando di sé\, parla di tutti loro\, in un percorso a 360° passa dalle difficoltà adolescenziali a relazionarsi con le ragazze bianche\, al disagio e alla rabbia di fronte alle mille sfumature diverse che può assumere il razzismo\, per poi scandagliare temi profondi come la ricerca della propria identità\, il rapporto con i soldi\, la politica e la religione. \nJessica Cugini\, giornalista dialoga con l’autore \nTOMMY KUTI nato a Abeokuta\, Nigeria\, a due anni si è trasferito con la famiglia in Italia ed è un italiano di seconda generazione. Dopo essersi laureato a Cambridge in Comunicazione\, è tornato in Italia per dedicarsi alla musica. Ha esordito nel 2012\, ma la vera svolta è stata nel 2016 grazie all’incontro con Paola Zukar e Fabri Fibra\, e all’inizio della collaborazione con Universal. Nell’autunno 2018 ha partecipato a Pechino Express classificandosi secondo. \n  \nThursday\, Novembrer 14th at 6\,30 pm  \nPRESENTATION OF THE BOOK “I LAUGH ABOUT IT. GROWING UP WITH DARK SKIN IN SALVINI’S ITALY” (Rizzoli Edition\, 2019) by Tommy Kuti\, rap singer. The book is the personal story of a boy with black skin born in Nigeria and grown up in the Cinque Continenti multi-ethnic neighborhood in Castiglione delle Stiviere\, in the province of Mantua. Tommy gives voice to the youth of the second generation\, with their dreams and challenges of integration. Those youths who study and work\, eat pasta with tomato sauce and\, as Kuti sings\, the first time they said “I love you” they did it in Italian. Tommy\, speaking of himself\, talks about all of them. He goes from the teenager challenge to relate with white girls\, to the discomfort and anger in facing racism and its nuances. Then he fathom deep themes like the search for one’s own identity\, the relationship with money\, politics and religion. \nThe journalist Jessica Cugini talks with the author.  \nTOMMY KUTI was born in Abeokuta\, Nigeria. He moved to Italy with his family at the age of two and he is a second generation Italian. After graduating from Cambridge with a degree in Communication\, he returned to Italy dedicating himself to music. He made his debut in 2012\, but the real turning point was in 2016 thanks to his meeting with Paola Zukar and Fabri Fibra\, and to the beginning of the collaboration with Universal. In autumn 2018\, he participated at the Pechino Express TV program\, finishing second.

Una ricetta del cuore che\, grazie al suo sapore\, fa sentire a casa ogni volta che se ne sente il bisogno. Le ricette si modificano negli anni\, mescolando ingredienti e abitudini che si trovano nel luogo di transito o di arrivo. Provandole\, non otterrai un piatto “tipico” ma sperimenterai il modo di cucinare di una famiglia\, una testimonianza di come i sapori siano stati tramandati e abbiano viaggiato attraversando il tempo e lo spazio. A favourite recipe that thanks to its flavour makes people feel at home whenever needed. Food recipes change over the years\, mixing ingredients and habits found in the place of transit or arrival. By trying the recipes\, we will not get a “typical” dish but we will experience the way a family cooks\, a testimony of how the flavours have been passed on and have travelled through time and space. Collabora\, fra gli altri\, con il TIME\, il Guardian\, Variety\, l’Economist e il Washington Post. \n  \nMonday\, November 11th at 6\,30 pm \nPRESENTATION OF THE BOOK “STORMY SEAS: STORIES OF YOUNG BOAT REFUGEES” by Mary Beth Leatherdale and Eleanor Shakespeare (Il Castoro Edition\, 2019). \nThe five true stories narrated in the book “Stormy Seas” start from different places and historical periods\, from the post-war period to the present\, but they are joined by a red thread: they are all stories of escapes. The characters are young people who cross the sea\, and escape war\, poverty and persecutions. Illustrated by Eleanor Shakespeare and written by the Canadian author Mary Beth Leatherdale\, the book has won numerous awards. It has been translated by Mariella Bertelli in collaboration with the volunteers of the IBBY Library in Lampedusa. 1€ of each sold copy will be donated to the Library. \nThe book is presented by Jessica Cugini\, journalist. \n  \nMARY BETH LEATHERDALE is a writer and editor of magazines and books for children and teenagers. She is the President of the Canadian section of IBBY\, an international non-profit organization present in 75 countries around the world\, committed to guaranteeing and defending the right of children and young people to access books and reading. \nELEANOR SHAKESPEARE is an illustrator and graphic designer.
