DESCRIPTION:In collaborazione con Il Circolo del Cinema PROIEZIONE SPECIALE RISERVATA AI SOCI\nOmaggio al regista mauritano Med Hondo\, recentemente scomparso\, con la proiezione del film SOLEIL Ô (98’ – Mauritania/Francia /1967). Med Hondo racconta con i suoi film «il vero volto» dell’Africa\, la cruda realtà della violenza coloniale e il dramma dell’emigrazione. Nonostante le censure subite in passato\, le sue pellicole hanno preso nuovamente vita grazie ai lavori di restauro della Cineteca di Bologna e dell’African Film Heritage Project della Film Foundation di Martin Scorsese.\nOspite il critico cinematografico Giuseppe Gariazzo \nSoleil Ô (98’ – Mauritania/Francia  1967) \nOmaggio al regista Med Hondo con Soleil Ô\, opera del 1967\, vincitrice del Pardo d’Oro al Festival di Locarno 1970. Girata con un budget scarsissimo in più di quattro anni\, denuncia una nuova forma di schiavitù\, quella dei migranti che arrivano a Parigi alla ricerca disperata di un lavoro e di un posto dove vivere\, ma si ritrovano faccia a faccia con l’indifferenza\, il rifiuto\, l’umiliazione\, prima di giungere al gesto estremo della rivolta.  Pochi hanno voluto e saputo raccontare la violenza coloniale e la sofferenza della migrazione africane come Med Hondo. \nDopo più di cinquant’anni dalla sua realizzazione il film è di sorprendente attualità. \nSoleil Ô è il titolo di una canzone delle Indie Occidentali che racconta le sofferenze dei neri del Dahomey (l’attuale Benin)\, portati nei Caraibi come schiavi. \n  \nIl regista \nNato nel 1936\, Med Hondo (all’anagrafe Mohamed Abid Hondo) è un regista\, sceneggiatore e attore della Mauritania. Nel 1959 si trasferisce in Francia\, prima a Marsiglia e poi a Parigi\, dove lavora come cuoco\, bracciante agricolo\, cameriere\, lavoratore portuale e fattorino. Poi scopre il teatro e inizia a prendere lezioni di recitazione\, regia e arte drammatica. Recita come attore nel cinema e in televisione\, con registi come Costa Gavras\, Robert Enrico e John Huston. Fonda la compagnia teatrale Griotshango\, che produce opere teatrali relative alla vita dei neri immigrati\, tra cui opere di René Depestre e Aimé Césaire. Verso la fine degli anni ’60 inizia a lavorare dietro la macchina da presa realizzando il suo film d’esordio Soleil Ô (1967). Shooted with a very low budget in more than four years\, it denounces a new form of slavery – that of migrants arriving in Paris desperate for a job and a place to live whom face indifference\, rejection\, humiliation\, before reaching the extreme gesture of revolt. Few have wanted and known how to tell the colonial violence and the suffering of African migration like Med Hondo. \nMore than fifty years after its creation\, the film is surprisingly topical. \nSoleil Ô is the title of a song from the West Indies that tells the suffering of blacks in Dahomey (today’s Benin)\, brought to the Caribbean as slaves. \n  \nThe director \nBorn in 1936\, Med Hondo (Mohamed Abid Hondo at the registry office) is a Mauritanian director\, screenwriter and actor. In 1959 he moved to France\, first to Marseilles and then to Paris\, where he worked as a cook\, an agricultural laborer\, a waiter\, a dock worker and a delivery boy. As soon as he discovered theater\, he started taking drama lessons\, directing and dramatic art. He then acts as in movies and television\, with directors like Costa Gavras\, Robert Enrico and John Huston. He founded the theater company Griotshango\, which produces theatrical works related to the lives of black immigrants\, including works by René Depestre and Aimé Césaire. Towards the end of the 1960s\, he began working behind the camera making his debut film “Soleil” (1967). DESCRIPTION:Taxi Waves è la mini serie in tre documentari\, prodotta da Controluce con TIMVISION\, che racconta la scena musicale elettronica in Africa\, attraverso il sound e il lifestyle di alcune città come Maputo\, Lagos e Addis Abeba. La serie\, disponibile in esclusiva su TIMVISION da oggi rivela i segreti delle produzioni africane e come queste influenzino artisti in America e in Europa. Un beat suonato dai più famosi Dj nei locali di Londra\, Berlino e New York\, ma che ha la sua origine nel ritmo della Pandza e Marrabenta in Mozambico\, del Pon-pon sound nigeriano o della musica House fondendosi con il folklore etiopico. \nOgni puntata di 30 minuti racconta un viaggio tra musica e cultura\, tra suoni e colori di un’industria che ha i suoi beniamini come Dj Ardiles\, Matilde Conjo\, Teni (i suoi video musicali hanno oltre 10 milioni di visualizzazioni in Internet)\, Slimcase\, S imi\, Betty G\, Rophnan. \nIn collaborazione con Fucina Culturale Machiavelli \n  \nL’autore del soggetto e co-sceneggiatore \nMikael Calandra Achode. Nato in Benin e cresciuto nella cultura street romana\, ha una vera passione per le sub-culture e concentra la sua attenzione creativa sull’intersezione tra musica\, culture vernacolari e comunicazione visiva\, favorendo temi quali l’identificazione e l’attualizzazione culturale all’interno della diaspora africana. Ha fondato Crudo Volta\, un progetto che documenta lo sviluppo delle scene africane contemporanee con l’uso dei media visivi. \n  \nIl regista e co-sceneggiatore \nTommaso Cassinis è nato a Roma nel 1985. Ha iniziato la sua formazione all’immagine subito dopo \nil diploma liceale\, apprendendo basi e tecniche al fianco di suo padre\, titolare della Controluce sas. Nel 2009 ha fondato Boogie Studio\, uno spazio creativo e punto d’incontro per fotografi e video maker romani e da allora lavora come free lance e collabora con numerose agenzie italiane ed estere soprattutto in campo pubblicitario e musicale. \n  \nFucina Culturale Machiavelli è un’impresa culturale no-profit fondata nel 2015 da un gruppo di giovani under 35\, con l’obiettivo di creare un’impresa in grado di dare lavoro stabile ai professionisti dello spettacolo\, riconoscendone il valore professionale. \nFucina è uno spazio off che chiunque può sentire come casa. In 2009 he founded Boogie Studio\, a creative space and meeting place for Roman photographers and video makers. Since then\, he has been working as a freelance in collaboration with numerous Italian and foreign agencies\, especially in advertising and music. \n  \n Fucina Culturale Machiavelli is a cultural no-profit organization founded in 2015 by a group of young people under 35\, who wanted to create a place in which professional performers’ work could be officially recognized. \nFucina Culturale Machiavelli is an indipendent theatre where anyone can feel at home; it is home to the Machiavelli Orchestra\, our resident orchestra. It is the place where we produce original shows and concerts\, it is a theatre in which professional theatre companies can perform and a location for theatre and educational classes. \n

DESCRIPTION:“Rwanda” porta sullo schermo una pagina di storia che solo in apparenza sembra lontana nel tempo e nello spazio\, ma che si mostra oggi in tutta la sua disarmante attualità. In una società che si fa sempre più multietnica e globalizzata\, la coesistenza tra persone provenienti da background differenti presenta sfide che devono essere vinte per assicurare un futuro di pace e cooperazione. \nRwanda non solo narra una vicenda che parla al nostro presente\, ma lo fa attraverso meccanismi produttivi nuovi. Basato sull’omonimo spettacolo teatrale di Marco Cortesi e Mara Moschini\, il film è stato finanziato da una Campagna di Crowdfunding e dal sostegno di numerose istituzioni e sponsor. Il set diviene fucina\, laboratorio di integrazione e cooperazione: oltre 480 uomini e donne provenienti da 24 paesi dell’Africa Centrale chiamati ad interpretare una pagina del loro stesso passato. Insieme a loro numerosi cittadini rwandesi nel ruolo che fu loro durante i drammatici eventi di quella primavera di sangue che scosse il paese africano nel 1994 con oltre 800.000 vittime in 104 giorni. \nA guidarli\, dietro la macchina da presa\, il regista Riccardo Salvetti al suo esordio cinematografico in un lungometraggio. \n“Ho osservato questo film per quasi mille volte\, con sguardo critico per ottenere il meglio… E nonostante tutto Rwanda riusciva sempre e comunque ad emozionarmi anche conoscendone ogni secondo a memoria. Sono stati anni dove io e Rwanda ci siamo accompagnati senza tregua\, e mentre cercavo di far crescere il film\, spesso mi accorgevo che forse era il film a far crescere me.” \nRwanda (91’ – Italia 2018) \nAugustin Maniriho è un giovane operaio. Ha una moglie\, Jolande\, e una bambina di 6 anni di nome Monique. Ama cantare mentre la mattina si reca al lavoro e quando in officina tutto va storto pensa alla sua famiglia e si sente l’uomo più fortunato del mondo. \nCecile Hakizimana è una giovane maestra di scuola elementare. Ha un marito\, Paul\, e una bimba di 4 anni di nome Sophie. Cecile adora il suo lavoro ed è certa che prima o poi realizzerà il suo sogno nel cassetto: pubblicare un libro di favole per bambini. \nIn quella primavera di sangue che si abbatte sul Rwanda nell’aprile del 1994\, un nome e un cognome però non bastano e a nessuno importa ciò che ami e come si chiamano i tuoi figli. \nCiò che conta davvero è quanto compare sul tuo documento d’identità alla voce: “razza”. Se c’è scritto “Hutu” devi uccidere\, se c’è scritto “Tutsi” devi morire. \n  \n“Rwanda” brings to the screen a page of History that apparently appears distant in time and space\, but that shows itself today in all its contemporary bearing. \nIn a society that is becoming increasingly multi-ethnic and globalized\, the coexistence of people from different backgrounds presents challenges that must be overcome to ensure a future of peace and cooperation. \nRwanda not only tells a story that speaks to our present\, but does so through new cinematographic mechanisms. Based on the theater play of the same name by Marco Cortesi and Mara Moschini\, the film was financed by a Crowdfunding Campaign and the support of numerous institutions and sponsors. The set becomes a workshop\, a laboratory of integration and cooperation: over 480 men and women from 24 Central African countries are called upon to interpret a page from their own past. Together with them many Rwandan citizens play the role that was theirs during the dramatic events of that spring of blood that shook the African country in 1994\, with more than 800.000 victims in 104 days. \nTo guide these men and women behind the camera\, the director Riccardo Salvetti at his film debut. \n“I’ve watched this film almost a thousand times\, with a critical eye to get the best out of it… And despite everything\, Rwanda always managed to excite me even if I knew every second of it by heart. He has a wife\, Jolande\, and a 6-year-old girl named Monique. He loves to sing while he goes to work in the morning\, and when everything goes wrong in the workshop\, he thinks of his family and feels like the luckiest man in the world. \nCecile Hakizimana is a young primary school teacher. She has a husband\, Paul\, and a 4-year-old girl named Sophie. Cecile loves her work and is sure that sooner or later she will realize her dream: to publish a children’s fairytale book. \nIn that spring of blood that hit Rwanda in April 1994\, a name and a surname are not enough and nobody cares who you love\, nor the name of your children. \nWhat really matters is what appears on your identity card under the heading: “race”. If it says “Hutu” you have to kill\, if it says “Tutsi” you have to die. \n
