DESCRIPTION:In collaborazione con Il Circolo del Cinema PROIEZIONE SPECIALE RISERVATA AI SOCI\nOmaggio al regista mauritano Med Hondo\, recentemente scomparso\, con la proiezione del film SOLEIL Ô (98’ – Mauritania/Francia /1967). Med Hondo racconta con i suoi film «il vero volto» dell’Africa\, la cruda realtà della violenza coloniale e il dramma dell’emigrazione. Nonostante le censure subite in passato\, le sue pellicole hanno preso nuovamente vita grazie ai lavori di restauro della Cineteca di Bologna e dell’African Film Heritage Project della Film Foundation di Martin Scorsese.\nOspite il critico cinematografico Giuseppe Gariazzo \nSoleil Ô (98’ – Mauritania/Francia  1967) \nOmaggio al regista Med Hondo con Soleil Ô\, opera del 1967\, vincitrice del Pardo d’Oro al Festival di Locarno 1970. Girata con un budget scarsissimo in più di quattro anni\, denuncia una nuova forma di schiavitù\, quella dei migranti che arrivano a Parigi alla ricerca disperata di un lavoro e di un posto dove vivere\, ma si ritrovano faccia a faccia con l’indifferenza\, il rifiuto\, l’umiliazione\, prima di giungere al gesto estremo della rivolta.  Pochi hanno voluto e saputo raccontare la violenza coloniale e la sofferenza della migrazione africane come Med Hondo. \nDopo più di cinquant’anni dalla sua realizzazione il film è di sorprendente attualità. \nSoleil Ô è il titolo di una canzone delle Indie Occidentali che racconta le sofferenze dei neri del Dahomey (l’attuale Benin)\, portati nei Caraibi come schiavi. \n  \nIl regista \nNato nel 1936\, Med Hondo (all’anagrafe Mohamed Abid Hondo) è un regista\, sceneggiatore e attore della Mauritania. Nel 1959 si trasferisce in Francia\, prima a Marsiglia e poi a Parigi\, dove lavora come cuoco\, bracciante agricolo\, cameriere\, lavoratore portuale e fattorino. Poi scopre il teatro e inizia a prendere lezioni di recitazione\, regia e arte drammatica. Recita come attore nel cinema e in televisione\, con registi come Costa Gavras\, Robert Enrico e John Huston. Fonda la compagnia teatrale Griotshango\, che produce opere teatrali relative alla vita dei neri immigrati\, tra cui opere di René Depestre e Aimé Césaire. Verso la fine degli anni ’60 inizia a lavorare dietro la macchina da presa realizzando il suo film d’esordio Soleil Ô (1967). Shooted with a very low budget in more than four years\, it denounces a new form of slavery – that of migrants arriving in Paris desperate for a job and a place to live whom face indifference\, rejection\, humiliation\, before reaching the extreme gesture of revolt. Few have wanted and known how to tell the colonial violence and the suffering of African migration like Med Hondo. \nMore than fifty years after its creation\, the film is surprisingly topical. \nSoleil Ô is the title of a song from the West Indies that tells the suffering of blacks in Dahomey (today’s Benin)\, brought to the Caribbean as slaves. \n  \nThe director \nBorn in 1936\, Med Hondo (Mohamed Abid Hondo at the registry office) is a Mauritanian director\, screenwriter and actor. In 1959 he moved to France\, first to Marseilles and then to Paris\, where he worked as a cook\, an agricultural laborer\, a waiter\, a dock worker and a delivery boy. As soon as he discovered theater\, he started taking drama lessons\, directing and dramatic art. He then acts as in movies and television\, with directors like Costa Gavras\, Robert Enrico and John Huston. He founded the theater company Griotshango\, which produces theatrical works related to the lives of black immigrants\, including works by René Depestre and Aimé Césaire. Towards the end of the 1960s\, he began working behind the camera making his debut film “Soleil” (1967).
