Tant qu’on vit

Kandia ha cinquant’anni. Dopo aver vissuto 30 anni in Svezia, decide di tornare a “casa” in Gambia. Suo figlio Ibbe, avuto con un uomo svedese, non capisce questo colpo di testa. Lui che sognava di fare il cantante hip hop ora è costretto a raggiungere la madre a Banjul. L’impatto con “il paese” è inatteso per entrambi. Una commedia impegnata e avvincente sul tema universale dell’Identità in Movimento.

Kandia is fifty years old. After living in Sweden for 30 years, she decides to return “home” Gambia. Her son Ibbe, who she had with a Swedish man, doesn’t understand this change of mind. He dreamed of becoming a hip hop singer but is now forced to follow his mother to Banjul. The impact of “the country” has unexpected consequences for both of them. Dani Kouyaté, nato in una famiglia di griots, ha studiato cinematografia all’Istituto Africano di Ouagadougou e poi ha proseguito gli studi in antropologia e cinema a Parigi. Dal 2007 vive e lavora a Uppsala, in Svezia. Il film Tant Qu’on Vit (in svedese MEDAN VI LEVER) è il suo primo film svedese, girato tra la città di Malmo, nel sud della Svezia, e Banjul, capitale del Gambia.

Dani Kouyaté, born into a family of griots, Dani studied cinematic arts at the African Institute of Ouagadougou and then continued his studies in anthropology and cinema in Paris. Since 2007, he has lived and worked in Uppsala, Sweden. The film Tant Qu’on Vit (in Swedish MEDAN VI LEVER) is his first Swedish film, shot between the city of Malmo, in the south of Sweden, and Banjul, capital city of Gambia.
